The 16th Annual Hilo Invitational Golf Tournament is set to tee off on Feb. 22-24 at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. The 36-hole Championship begins on Saturday, Feb. 23, with the final round scheduled to conclude on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The 16th Annual Hilo Invitational Golf Tournament is set to tee off on Feb. 22-24 at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. The 36-hole Championship begins on Saturday, Feb. 23, with the final round scheduled to conclude on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The 36-hole pro-am is scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

According to tournament spokesman Lance Taketa, defending champion Nick Mason, a professional, is in the field to tackle the tough Hilo Municipal layout.

Taketa also noted that professionals TJ Kua, Kevin Hayashi and Garrett Okamura should give chase for the coveted crown. Amateurs Jonathan Ota and Dalen Yamauchi are also expected to do well.

The field is limited to the first 120 golfers and the deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Friday. For more information, call Taketa at 987-2971.

Girls softball note

Sign-ups for girls interested in playing softball for the Nobu Yamauchi RBI League, ages 18 and under, will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday at Honokaa Park; 10 to 11 a.m. at Waimea Park; 12 to 1 p.m. at the Kona Community Aquatic Center parking lot; and 3 to 4 p.m. at Kamehameha Park in Kohala.
